Community-Led Research to Nurture Disaster Resilience
Knowledge gaps exist in our understanding of disaster resilience. We observe patterns and choices that disaster–affected communities make. Without an understanding of these choices, the disaster rescue, relief, and recovery policies and programs are not yielding the expected results. Disasters don’t kill people; the mismanagement or governance of these disasters do. Similarly, the choices made for displacement and evacuations during and after disasters are multi–layered and complex to understand, analyze and predict.
